The Grandest Golf Competition Of All Time
Golf is one of the most intense competitions that everyone look forward to. This year, we bring one of the grandest golf competitions of all time – The 2018 Masters.
First among all parts of the competition is a kick start for the golfers. In this part, the golfers are given guidelines to make sure they are in the right competition. The next part focuses on game preparations such as the game rules, training and putting up of gears. Part three requires a lot of focus as it is where the golfers are feeling the pressure of the competition while acting gracefully under it.
The biggest challenge in every golfer in any game is choosing the right club that could hit the ball enough to shoot it in the hole. Unlike most games, golf does not need a standardized court. Every golf course is different from each other when it comes to the design. However, each golf course must consist of 9 or 18 holes. There are specific rules and regulations in each game and each golfers must abide these rules.
One important factor to note in a game is the number of strokes the golfer makes. Every golfer has his own strokes when playing. Golfers edge over the other by scoring in each whole ahead of each other and the match play scoring system is used in each game.
Golf was first discovered by Scottish shepherds who kick stones to rabbit holes sometime in the 12th century. This game mechanic is still applicable in golfing up to this day but the golfers use a club instead of simply giving the ball a kick with their foot.
As times change, more and more types of golfing is made. These include the following:
Stroke play or the medal play
The stroke play which is known to many as the medal play is one of the most popular ones as it is used in most competitions. In the stroke or medal play, each golfer must complete all 18 holes in the course and the player the lowest total net scores when it comes to number of strokes wins.
In this type of golf competition, golfers play in teams with the same objective and the team that gets the most number of holes wins. Match plays are mostly used in golf clubs with many club members and since this type of competition is played by teams, the rules and regulations must be strictly followed by each golfers.
In this type of golfing, each player scores the balls in a hole and it will be decided which among the shots is the best one. Then the other players copy the same strokes until the game ends. This type is considered to be the easiest one and this is why it is mostly used by golf enthusiasts.
In this type of golf competition, a ‘skin’ which is a bag of money is placed in each hole and the players that hit the hole gets the skin and each of them compete to score first than the rest. The prize is called the ‘skin’ because it is a bag made of skin which contains cash prize.
The mechanics is this type of competition is quite simple, first, the players must allot a number of strokes which they are only allowed to use all throughout the game and when they are actually playing, all they need to do is score as much holes as they can using the number of strokes fixed.
These are just some of the many types of golf competitions set for the 2018 Masters Review so don’t miss out your chance to see famous golfers including Iain Sharpe take over the golf course.
