A cultural phenomenon, a concept of emotion, a horizontal trend. Retro is to abandon the new costume and put the memory on.

"Downton Abbey" is called "the greatest drama of the 21st century".

As a classic English drama, the background of the play was set in the 1910s when King George V was in office, a fictional manor in Yorkshire, Downton Abbey, and the story began with the entanglement of the inheritance of the family of Graham's family. It presents the humanity of the upper echelons of the United Kingdom and their servants under the strict hierarchy.

And my enlightenment for British retro clothing is from here.

In the 1930s the white shoes with contrasting black leather saddle became a huge hit among in American University students.
Men's and women's saddle shoes were not just a fashion fad in the 1950s. This can, at least in part, be attributed to some of the biggest names in the music and film industry.

A trend that now still to stay, at least for a while.
To be honest, they were shoes for any occasion and looked great paired with any garment imaginable.
The 1950s were an era when fashion exploded in new colors, directions, and unique silhouettes. People refer to this as the iconic fashionable decade which has spurned the revival of vintage retro fashion which includes rockabilly clothing and Pins Up.

When did the Game Change?

In the year 1947, the famous iconic brand Christian Dior was seen turning fashion upside down with the New Feminine look. This new look was bold, significant, and entirely feminine. Dress skirts with padded busts were incorporated in order to accentuate a slim and small waist. This look is an inspiration for the era of the Victorians, which was made shorter and modest.
Most of the women of the era were encouraged to fulfill their respective roles of a mother, wife, or a homemaker by being beautiful. There are usually two distinct classic shapes of 1950s dresses, the most popular being the one with the full skirt and tea-length dress known as a 50s swing dress. Another look was the sheath dress which was form-fitting, often known today as the wiggle or pencil dress.
Both of these styles had a snug-fitting and modest tops having narrow high waistlines along with tea-length and shin-length skirts. These styles were equally worn by women, although the sheath one was way too impractical to be worn as a housedress.

How Vital was the American Flag Style Statement?

Apparels with American flag were worn as a style statement in the 1950s era. You are allowed to wear the dress on Independence Day and be one with the patriotic self in you. Until and unless a piece of cloth is made from a real United States flag, there is no breach of the flag etiquette. There is a different kind of clothes which were popular with the American flag style. These include long dresses, knee-length dresses, a full and mid-length skirt, tea-length dress, and so on.
The usual printing on the American dress is polka dots, floral design, and lace design, and so on. Some of the other famous prints were border prints, gingham, sailor themes, and pastels, which brings back women to the old joys of childhood. Most of the retro-inspired 50s dresses today aim to embrace the colorful and youthful designs. The American flag dress can be styled with dresses, skirts, gowns that flaunt the flag design in the chicest manner.
The 1950s era was a fashionable era which sported not only feminine designs but also the American flag statement like never before.

Wide-Leg Pants,it was popular in the 1940s, with a small shirt on it, full of modern OL.

Shirts and wide-leg pants in 1940s are the most classic

In the 1930s, French berets were usually made of wool or felt. Women often slanted it on one side of the head to show their hairstyle. French berets were popular during this period, not only Because of this, it is because it leaves plenty of room for creative expression.

The 1920s was an era of gradual opening. The modern girls liked to pile up a lot of gorgeous elements on their bodies, trying to create a beautiful look with a shocking look.

Starting from the headdress, the details of the extravagance are displayed everywhere.

At that time, the popular hairstyle is BOBO, which was slightly hot on the volume, to increase the sense of gorgeousness, with shiny hair accessories.
If you are a fan of vintage clothing or if you want to attend the coming Oktoberfest and you have your 40’s clothes sorted, great. However, your clothes aren’t the only thing that needs to be sorted. Your hairstyle should match your clothes too, right? If you are still confused, here are some simple ways you can style your hair and rock the 1940’s look.

What Was The Trend Back Then?

Sleek and shiny hair that girl adores these days wasn’t in back then, it was all rolls and volume. There was no concept of messy anything; hair was styled to immutable buns, packed to perfection, not even one hair went astray.  Here’s how you can achieve the trend back then.

Rollers:

First thing’s first, you need the volume. So, take out those rollers and get to work. The best option to go with is the hot roller one; they tend to make your curls less frizzy as well as make the whole thing go pretty fast.

Beware, don’t brush the curls too much or they will separate, you don’t want that. Brush them out lightly with a wide-tooth comb. You will need a hairspray handy to keep the curls in their place, avoid using moose or gel.

Pin Them Up:

Once you are done with your curls, lay them on your favorable side and start with the pins or clips. These will give your hair the wavy texture. Add the pins where ever you want the texture and let it rest. Apply spray to keep them in their place. 15 to half an hour is enough for the pins to create the texture. Take the pins our when you are ready to leave the house.

Bonus Tip:

Before setting the hair with pins, make sure you have combed and laid them down in perfect position. As you won’t be able to do it once the texture is set.
These elaborated waves were a huge part of $0’s era, so much so that celebrities were rarely seen with any other hairstyle. The look is still pretty famous at vintage themed weddings, Halloween or Oktoberfest. You can also pin these curls up in a ponytail or even in a chic bun; the volume and texture are enough to let people know you are favoring the 40’s trend.

The most direct impact of retro drama is the richness of color and bold use.

Sharing a few retro dramas, I think the perfect match.

LOOK 1

In the movie 《Brooklyn》
The women's clothing match retains the nobleness of the royal blue, and the light blue ice relieves the body's royal blue too violently.

LOOK 2

In 《Carol》
Refreshing and elegant, it perfectly interprets the beauty of green from shallow to deep.

In《The Marvelous Mrs. Maise》
Rose-red mixed pink, is a girl is also a sweetheart.

Color is full of magic, as long as you are good at using it, just as long as you have found beautiful eyes

How do you spend your weekend?

Schedule something for your weekend.

Explore the vintage shop with me!

The world’s highest-ranking hipsters love old antiques – certainly not the seasons you bought in Outlets, nor the museum collections in the auction house that are only far-sighted, but ten Clothes and shoes made in a few years or even decades ago. They are collectively referred to as "vintage".

In fact, vintages are not necessarily second-hand: they can be second-hand or new ones that have been discontinued.

I always like to go shopping during these weekends.

 1950s V Neck A-Line Embroidery Halter Dress

The bright and beautiful color matching represents the pure white veil, and the cool white sunglasses with this vintage dress is the perfect way for summer driving.

The Great Gatsby

‘The Great Gatsby’ is a famous classical novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald in 1925, later adapted into a movie with Leonardo Di Caprio as a leading actor. The movie got immense fame and its fabulous fashion and outfit styles that can be considered as a true depiction of 1920s fashion trends. Ever since the novel and the movie about the 1920s lifestyle has deeply influenced the fashion world by reimagining the classical fashion styles in contemporary life. The Great Gatsby fashion style has been a popular theme for various events and parties. There are many 1920s Great Gatsby looks and styles that are head-turning and can be easily recreated. Here we share how!

Great Gatsby Style

Sparkle and glamour are an essential part of the Great Gatsby style that makes it ideal to be worn on fancy events and evening parties. The women of twenties loved to wear sequin dresses, whether long or short as they created a dazzling party look.  The pretty sequin dresses can be worn in short flapper and fringed style with a traditional headband featuring a couple of feathers. To complete the look, you may wear high heal and dangling earrings. The Great Gatsby inspired sequin dresses are available in various lengths and styles which you may choose according to your personality and occasion.

1920s Look

The rebellion flapper girls of Great Gatsby times were famous for their unconventional dresses and getup for the age. The women of 1920s liked to break the tradition by getting short hairstyles, knee-length or above fringed dresses, dazzling accessories and they loved to dance on jazz which was against the norms of that time. You can get a fantastic flapper girl look by wearing a short-fringed dress, high heels, and fancy headband. The short-fringed dresses with sparkling sequin are the most prominent outfit styles of the time.
The Great Gatsby inspired outfits are not limited to just short dresses; there were plenty of options for formal long dresses in floaty length and sparkling embellishment.  These floor-sweeping traditional dresses were worn by the stylish women of that time at the formal events and balls. The fantastic dress styles were worn in vibrant colors such as blood red or in minimalist nude hues. You can wear a sleeveless, floor-length stylish dress and team it up with the pearl necklaces and bracelets to complete the breathtaking look.

Today, we get to see a plethora of stylish women outfits ranging from casual evening gowns to high-waisted bikinis. In terms of fashion, ladies were not as free in the 90s as they are in the current times. Fashion has evolved to a great extent. Nowadays, women have plenty of outfit options to choose from. But nothing beats the beauty of the traditional vintage outfit. Perhaps, that's why the fashion industry has brought back the vintage outfits. Be it 20's loose-fitting and flapper dresses or the 40s' A-line skirts with high-waist tops; ladies seem to love the vintage look. If you are a trend-lover, you would have probably tried creating the traditional look. Well, here's all you need to know about the 1920s, the '40s, and 50's women fashion. Let's learn more about creating the spectacular vintage look with the perfect outfit.

1920's Style and Look

1920's fashion for women was pretty simple yet wonderful. The non-flapper dresses involved a loose top and a long asymmetrical-shaped skirt (which would either touch the knee or hang below the same). However, these skirts would neither touch the ankle nor hang above the knees. Accompanied by a slash and thin belt across the waistline, the 1920s beaded blouse with large collars was super popular. Today, women are often seen following the 20s clothing trend. They put on a loose-fitting top and the matching skirt fastened with a sash belt or a gold chain. For those who love to wear sporty dresses and are looking for some vintage options, pullover knit vest and a chunky cardigan sweater can make a perfect outfit.

1940's and 1950's Women Fashion

Women clothing trend in the 1940s was based on an hourglass silhouette that would feature masculine details. There wasn't much evolution in terms of women outfits; however, the high waist tops paired with A-line skirts seemed more stylish than the 20's asymmetrical skirts. As said above, the main focus of the women was to create an hourglass silhouette. Even if a woman did not have an hourglass-shaped body, she would wear clothes which helped her achieve that look. The simple yet interesting vintage accessories such as hats, handbags, jewelry, and gloves completed their look.

The 1950s brought a great revolution in women's life. Women became more independent. Due to certain regulations post-war, women outfit was limited to a slim and straight silhouette. Pants, shirtdresses, suits, and other long skirts were considered comfortable and ideal outfits for girls.
