Flapper dresses had all the hype in the 1920’s. A beautiful girl dressed up in a gorgeous and sparkly mid-length dress with fringes was a sight no to miss!

Fringes were the ‘IT’ thing about the 1920s. The fashion of that year was gushing in with dresses which included little or lots of fringes and sparkles on the hemlines. And in the midst of these were the glamorous flapper dresses worn by women going to the parties and stealing the show right then and there.

You can buy many vintages styled flappers dresses online or on-site but you need to know the accessories that go with it and complete the outfit. A flapper dress was mostly accompanied by long double triple beady and pearly necklaces, a small colored fan in the hands to carry with a   sense of nobility, black lace gloves, and fancy headbands.

How were Flapper Dresses in the 20’s?

Young girls with a thin figure and middle-aged women with a lean body enjoyed wearing flapper dresses in the twenties. A flapper dress is a mid-length or knee-length dress with low cut fringes on the hem. It can be sleeveless or short-sleeved.
Unlike the dresses from today, flapper dresses were rather loosely shaped and hardly gave out the shape of the body. Although the waistline could be accentuated with the help of a belt tied around the flapper dress.
The original flapper dress did not have a deep neck since it wasn’t appropriate back then and neither was exposing a lot of skin. But some flapper dresses exposed little of the back area which was usually

To stay true to the authentic and actual flapper dress, don’t fall into buying the later version which was modified in the 1950’s and 70’s to modernize it. When you go out to buy a vintage art deco dress make sure it is made from a light fabric such as silk or chiffon and the dress itself is loose.
You don’t need to buy a high standard fancy flapper dress, you can just settle for a plain one as long as it has fringes on it. Jazz it up with glamorous jewelry and accessories which will add more volume to your outfit.
Plus your hair and makeup will help you a lot in completing the look so stay close to hairdos and make up looks inspired by the 1920’s makeup trends.
The miniskirt caught on in the US and Canada a few years later than the UK and Europe, with skirts still knee-length in the States as late as 1967.  By ’68, however, the hemlines were finally hiked – the mini had officially arrived.

In the 1920s, it was a very vivid and colorful era, described as "the most colorful in history" and "the 1920s when roaring and snarling."

Petticoats were popular in the 1940s and 1950s, which became an integral part of the knee-length skirts and gowns worn by women. 50s fashion is known for its modesty and elegance.  The petticoat fashion is cherished today, and most women love to rock their vintage outfits. Women in the past loved to wear petticoats and twirl to the beat of the music with confidence.
If you’ve got a 1950s vintage dress that you wish to wear to an upcoming party, but you’re confused whether you should wear a petticoat, this guide will help you in making the final decision.

Types of Petticoats

Before you buy a petticoat, make yourself aware of the different materials of the undergarment available in the stores today. There are various types of the petticoat, such as Organza, Nylon, Net, and Aurora. Each fabric has its unique characteristics and appeal, so select the material comfortable for you.
Organza and Chiffon are popular petticoat materials that are stiff and give you the desired look. However, organza may cause itchiness to your skin. So, wear a slip underneath before trying the petticoat.

Styles

There are A-line and bell-shape petticoats. A-line adds volume towards the bottom of your dress, whereas bell-shape undergarment is perfect if you’re wearing Lolita. The bell-shaped petticoat adds puffiness towards the top of the skirt and creates a curvy edge.
The dress you wear will determine which petticoat style you should go for. If you wear a Lolita dress, A-line/Bell-shape is petticoat is preferable, as it will give a puffy and enhanced look to your dress.  If you want to achieve the fullness of the dress, you can layer it up with more petticoats. The downside is you’ll have to buy high-quality petticoats to achieve the fuller look, which will cost a fortune.

 Length

To select the right length, measure your skirt/frock from waist to the hem and match it with the petticoat. If you want a longer petticoat that sticks out, you can get a 1-2 inch longer petticoat but not more than that. For knee-length dresses, don’t go for very short petticoats as this will give a weird waterfall effect.

Color

You’ll find a wide range of Petticoats in vibrant colors. To opt for the right color, go for the color that matches your dress. A strikingly bold petticoat underneath a light dress would show through so pick out the color that goes best with your attire.
By now, you must have gotten an answer to your question. Petticoats would never go out of style and it can never go wrong with a chic vintage dress.

When it comes to Mad Men's meteoric rise to TV fame, what attracted me was it a retro outfit.

From the dress of the three heroines of "Mad Men", Jenny Bryant's "fashion road map" can be clearly identified.
From the dress of the three heroines of "Mad Men", Jenny Bryant's "fashion road map" can be clearly identified. Joan Holloway is a passionate, stylish and sexy person. In most cases, she wears eye-catching solid colors such as bright green and purple. Everything she likes can be summed up in one word - "body consciousness": a slim sweater, a pencil skirt, tights... This reflects her confidence in her body. Compared to Joan, Peggy Olson's wardrobe in the office is more traditional, "there are a variety of plaid patterns and pleated clothes inside" - but from there See the "complexity" and "ambition" of her personality. As for the "desperate housewives" Betty, she always wears white clothes. From these dresses, the audience will find her sensitive, nervous, perfectionism, "not wanting to be a bride all the time."
A retro-style wedding can be never forgettable forever. There is a huge range of vintage bridal accessories available to suit all genres of vintage weddings. Dress up to be the most beautiful person in your happiest moment.
Autumn retro fashion can be done with an A-line swing skirt and a knit Cardigan to help you refresh your fashion choices with some surprisingly vintage energy.
Rockabilly style is all about giving that final touch-up to your overall appearance to up the glamour.
It emphasizes in bringing out the feminine side of the look with the last few touches such as perfecting the immaculate hairstyle and makeup. Rockabilly dressing is as important to your look as a retro clothing style.
If you are a fashionista and are looking to insert rockabilly into your clothing then we are happy to tell you that, you are at the right place!

A little about Rockabilly

Before moving into the wonders, you can pull off by applying the rockabilly style, let’s rewind and look upon the history of this style.
Rockabilly movement started back in the 1950s. The name comes from a merge between rock n roll and Hillbilly music, that is otherwise named as Country Music.
It was rising since the start of 1950 and well went into the 60s but soon lost its magic when disco made its way into the heart of dancers.

How to Wear Rockabilly Dress?

Even if the majority of the people started losing their touch for it, there were a few who still enjoyed wearing it.
Similarly,
To this very day, rockabilly fashion has made it through with figure-flattering dresses that have bright colors and patterns.

1.50s Swing Skirt

Rockabilly was all about swinging like there’s no tomorrow.
Wear a flowy skirt that you can swing around freely and dance your night away. Whether it is with your friends or a special dance at night. It is time to amaze everyone with your rockabilly style. It focuses on your movement and a full-flowy skirt should be the first dress in your Rockabilly wardrobe.

2.Full Skirt

Another great way you can turn the heads as you walk in the room is to wear a full skirt that has nipped in waist. To further add in the color, wear a full petticoat that exhibits rock n roll style.
Also, A sleek pencil style skirt that runs just below the knee could do the trick for you as well. It will give you the sophisticated look that men just can’t resist.

3.Colors and Patterns

While you are trying to make the rockabilly dresses work, make sure that you pick out the best ones.
How to do that? Try going for dresses that have plain colors that give a bold statement, injecting rockabilly essence to it. Polka dots are a good option for highlighting your figure more than just fabric. Fishnet stockings on top of that will set things right.

4.Rockabilly Hairstyle & Accessories

The hairstyle is as important for this particular look as any part of your attire. You’ve got a number of options to choose from; a perfectly rolled hair with a string of attractive pearls and a striking red lipstick is the way to do it. Ballerina pumps or toe heels will complete the look for you.
Rockabilly dressing is more about blending in your look as well as achieving it, so grab a round-necked cardigan and layer up the rockabilly fashion.

Hello there ladies, I have a vintage autumn dress look for you. a black classic vintage dress. You can put on a long cardigan in the outdoor, beautiful and also keep warm.
Mixing and matching classic and contemporary pieces is quite a difficult thing for people who have no experience. Symbolizes the sweet polka dot yellow dress meets the cool black leather jacket, what kind of spark will collide? Try it out
It's been almost two years since we first noticed the ubiquity of millennial pink, and, according to Milan Fashion Week street style, the trendy color still remains a favorite among the fashion crowd. Pink is always the color of the most girl, regardless of age. The retro-style echoes the red belt of the polka-dot skirt, having a unique feeling.
Are you inspired by 90's vintage dresses and wish to pull it off effortlessly? The 1940s and 1950s fashion were all about printed frocks, baggy pants, and puffy sleeve shirts, but you can revamp it with modern-day clothes that won't make you feel like an outcast. If you want to look like a vintage diva with a hint of a modern touch, follow the tips below and look classy with confidence.

#1: Pair it with Denim

When life gives you denim, style it with chic vintage clothes. Denim seems to go well with just about any clothing. Whether you're planning to wear your favorite polka dot blouse or go for a classic frock you can either go for Denim pants with a blouse or rock the vintage themed frock with a denim jacket to make it look dope. Denim can neutralize the whole look and you wouldn't feel like as though you're wearing a costume.
It's best to try out vintage clothes with trendy clothes and see which outfit looks perfect on you.

#2: Go For Fitted Clothes

The 1940s-50s dresses included baggy style shirts and pants which may look outdated if you wear them in the 21st Century, However, don't just throw them away. Get it altered to fit you and you'll see just how sassy it looks. Let your clothes do the talking!

#3: Go for a minimalistic look

In the 1940s and '50s, women used to go for bold lips, eye-popping shadow, and swirly hairstyle, but you don't have to exactly follow the complete look from the past. Instead, you could go for minimal makeup and a low-maintenance hairdo with your vintage clothes and all eyes will be definitely on you. The aim is to randomly add vintage ensembles into your everyday fashion rather than fully going for a hip-hop look. Mix and match with modern styles.

#4: Select Modern Pieces of Vintage Clothing

Select the vintage pieces that have made a comeback instead of blindly choosing a piece straight out from the past. To check the latest fresh trends, go through fashion magazines and blogs that can help you in making the right decision in picking out modern vintage clothes. Peplum style shirts and long floral skirts from the 1940s and 1950s have a made a revival. So, why not pair it with your favorite jewelry and walk with style?

#5: Mix Different Eras of Clothing

You don't have to just stick to one era of clothing but you could wear a 1940s dress and style it with accessory/shoes of another era. This is a difficult task, but it's not at all impossible. You may be hesitant at first but the rule of thumb is to always give it a try. You never know you might slay the look!

Try out these Vintage looks that you can never go wrong with and unleash the fashion Diva in you!

How to wear when you want to participate in a 1950s party, the following are the two sets of clothes I have prepared for a retro party, they will tell you!

Here is the self-entertainment of today, not bad, right?

Pencil Skirts, also known as elastic skirts, are     named after their pencil-like straightness.
This skirt, which tightly wraps around the           curve of the lower body.

Pencil skirts have a long history since the 1950s. It was also a lineage of the narrow skirts during World War II. The shortage of materials during World War II directly affected the clothing industry and even affected the length of the women's dresses.

Women’s fashion has gone through many ups and downs over the years.
But,
the most prominent wardrobe updates started in the 1920s. It was not only about the women and their dressing, but instead, the American culture was also affected by the state of war.
It was a decisive decade for the women, as they were empowered to vote. It was the era of the Harlem Renaissance as well as the tremendous middle-class affluence.
1920s-1960s were probably the most critically influential era for the women and their dressing style.

A Sneak Peek Into 1920s

Women said their goodbyes to the Gibson Girl appearance.
A more casual sense of dressing was on the verge of rising. The dresses were changed to more flapper look with a bit of young look.
The reason behind – World War I. A women liberation movement came into being, American youth was rebellious and the middle class was getting richer by the day. All of these factors combined caused havoc for the social norms of the 1920s.

1920s Appearance

Before 1920, women used to wear short hair that was most of the time curled.
But,
The hairstyles started to become lengthier. Women now started parting their hair from the center or sideways. Fashionable accessories such as cloche hat, bracelets, long strings of pearl and feathered headbands came into play. Dresses were now shorter. It was also the era in which cocktail dresses were introduced in fashion.
Flapper dress was another famous addition to 1920s. If there was one dress that could describe the fashion ways of the 1920s, that is a flapper dress.
Fashion reached new heights, women’s attitude was more practical due to the war situation and the perception of women towards many things have changed since the 1920s.

Mod Fashion Trend of the 1960s

It's no wonder that slim lines along with the birth of hemlines still looks stylish in the 20s. They were originated in the 1960s.

One of the biggest influences on the women of 1960s was Jackie Kennedy.
Yes, that’s right!
She inspired women to an extent that almost every single lady wanted to copy her style, her elegance, and her gait.
Two of the major fashion influencers of that era were; the iconic Aubrey Hepburn because of her Breakfast at Tiffany’s look and pixie look of Twiggy which mostly included cigarette pants and cropped haircuts.

1960s Dressing

It was the time when women started expressing themselves through their wardrobe. They started focusing on the practical way of life.
Although,
The late 1960s saw women wearing loose clothes made of tie-dye fabrics. Vietnam War led this fashion change in women. Clothing was a major part of women in that era.
High boots and leopard prints were now adored by the women. People saw fashion as a way of freeing themselves from the norms of society at that time. A variety of fashion trends such as the hippie movement was a message, heard clear by the society to free themselves from the shackles of narrow mindedness.
